Last night, the segment of Housewives of Beverly Hills that featured our shoot with Lisa Vanderpump aired. Thanks to everyone who wrote to say they saw me—thanks for bringing this cringing moment to my attention. Is it wrong for me to say, I just can't watch that show? Not because we were on it, but because those women are way too negative, biting and upsetting. I guess it all makes for good reality tv, but I hate it. Especially not good for watching right before going to sleep. Not being hypocritical, I am excited that we had Lisa on the cover and that we could feature her. She really is the ONLY housewife of all of the Bravo 'Housewives' shows that we'd even consider having in Genlux. Unlike most – scratch that – all those on the show, LIsa's the only smart, sensible, well-mannered and self-controlled one.
Genlux has been asked numerous times to do a reality show. We even started the process with one of the most well-respected production companies. The wheels self-destructed when we realized the challenge we'd face with being in the luxury market and need to create a positive co-branding experience for the likes of Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Valentino, etc. If someone out there could come up with a way to package Genlux in a positive light while still creating good-ratings—we'd been up for it.
Today I'm editing a few stories that we shot. One by photographer Jeff Berlin and one by photographer Geoff Ragatz. I'm also trying to piece together our issue release party hosted by Katheryn Winnick. The logistics of juggling talent, sponsors, venues, along with decor, alcohol, food, gift bags, models, hair and makeup, etc etc, can be challenging. John Sugrue, our events coordinator and I could tell you stories that would make your heart stop. Like when the venue in Beverly Hills finally confirmed on a Tuesday evening for an event on Thursday. Most would have thrown in the towel. Not us. It ended up one of our best events—we even had Katherine McPhee and her band perform—under snowflakes. It was the second time that Katherine performed for us. When it comes to Genlux parties, getting 300 people out within one day notice is never a problem.
